With no current government announcement for the extension of legislation allowing virtual council meetings to continue as the May 6th deadline approaches, Melksham Town Council’s clerk Linda Roberts has reflected on a virtual year.
“It has all gone extremely smoothly with very few technical issues,” Linda told Melksham News.
“Councillors have found the meetings extremely useful and they have been well run with decision making as if we were in the council chamber.”
Public feedback to the council indicated that residents seem to like the fact they can attend meetings more easily and from home, Linda added.
She thought that for the future “there is merit in hybrid and the use of virtual meetings going forward, maybe for committee and working group meetings, with full council meeting live.”
