WILTSHIRE Scrapstore received help from employees from Milestone Infrastructure last week following an appeal for assistance by the charity. Three members of staff from Milestone’s depot in Bowerhill braved the rain to move a mixture of wood, metal and plastic scrap at the scrapstore.
The scrapstore, based outside Lacock, collects resources that would otherwise go to landfill and redistribute them for creative activities and projects.
Glynis Cosgrave, assistant director of Wiltshire Scrapstore said, “A week ago, Wiltshire Scrapstore urgently needed some extra pairs of hands to help Kate, our warehouse manager, move our huge quantity of donated materials in readiness for our storage facilities to be re-sited in March. Within minutes of putting a plea for help on our Facebook site, Tom Price from Milestone in Melksham got in touch and a week later arrived at our charity with a brilliant team of helpers!
“They worked solidly, despite the wind and the rain, and have made a huge difference to what was a daunting project. As a charity, we have minimal staff and rely heavily on our fantastic volunteers.
“The warehouse is one area that desperately needs more pairs of hands, so Tom’s offer of help immediately gave us hope that the project would be finished in time for the planned move. We are so grateful to Milestone, Tom and his team. They really have made a huge difference to our charity and proves that community really does matter!”
Tom Price, social values and communications advisor for Milestone Infrastructure said, “It was a pleasure working with Wiltshire Scrapstore to support their car park expansion. They are a crucial part of the community and to be able to be involved at any level with them is truly amazing. I look forward to working closely with them in the future and would encourage anyone looking to support such a great charity to reach out to them”.
