Melksham went away to Minety this week with a determined attitude to put in a good performance.
The first half shaped up as expected with both sides battling hard for the first score. That opportunity coming to captain Charlie Radcliffe as constant pressure phase after phase allowed him to power over out wide. The boot of Callum Hurn adding the extras.
The visitors maintained this momentum with an almost identical try by the captain for his brace in the second quarter.
The second half started with both teams out competing hard for the next score. Melksham going down to 14 men, defended strongly, for sometime, against a concerted Minety attack on the line repelling wave after wave. The home team finally settled for three points from a penalty.
Returning to strength, the visitors gradually regained control but the last pass failing to reward the effort on a couple of occasions. New first team players Ben Smith and a debut start for Brad Wilkins contributing to the team effort on Saturday and Man of the Match awarded to Charlie Radcliffe by his team mates.
