‘that meeting space’ which was formerly the ArtHouse café, has now opened in the Market Place despite several setbacks.
John Firth explained, “The latest, during a recent rainstorm, was when water began to cascade through the ceiling, leaving six inches of water on the floor below. That same flood left the public toilets in the Market Place temporarily out of action too.
“Now ‘that meeting space’ has dried out, it is able to open its doors for a variety of initiatives.
“On Tuesday mornings, from 10.30-noon, it is open for meeting up with friends and making new ones – just drop in, everyone is welcome – there will be a cuppa and a smile waiting for you. Hosted by GoodNews church, this group is also in the final stages of planning a smartphone/tablet help forum for anyone who doesn’t feel confident using technology. Watch this space for more details.
“‘that meeting space’ is already being used by community groups including ‘Good News for Everyone’ (formerly the Gideons/the Bible people) who met there with a group of church leaders – from St. Michael’s, Melksham Baptist Church and GoodNews Church – to share their rebranding and current initiatives, including the distribution of Bibles and magazines to schools and community settings. Other community groups have already planned some of their meetings at ‘that meeting space’ including a singalong group (which is already fully subscribed), the Rotary Club and Melksham Messy Church planning team.
