MELKSHAM Seniors 55+ Forum will be meeting with local MP, Michelle Donelan, this month as her Party has elected a new leader and Prime Minister.
The group, which organises events and campaigns for older people’s rights in the area, will host a public meeting with the Chippenham MP on Thursday 28th July at 2pm at Melksham Town Hall.
Chairman Brian Warwick said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for local people to express their views and also to question their MP on older people and local issues.
“I am delighted Melksham Seniors will have a great opportunity to hopefully help to mend the wounds the referendum has created.”
The meeting is organised by the Seniors’ Forum but will be open to the public and is free to attend.
Michelle Donelan told Melksham News, “I always look forward to meeting with and chatting to our Seniors’ Forum groups; we are fortunate that they are so active locally. We always have robust discussions on a wide range of topics that affect all of our community, not just the older generation.
“It has been such a turbulent time in politics and I suspect the EU Referendum result will be discussed in some detail, as well as our next Prime Minister.
“It is important for all MPs to speak with as many community groups as possible to ensure they remain rooted in the community and engaged with local people.”
