There will be murders, mayhem and all kinds of skulduggery when Smoke & Mirrors, a professional murder mystery company, visit the Tollgate Inn at Holt on Thursday 26th February with ‘Bell, Book & Scandal’.
The year is 1924. Dame Fanny Rackham is the greatest classical actress of her generation; her son Freddy is the greatest magician of his. Guests are invited to a double celebration: Dame Fanny’s sixtieth birthday, and an exclusive performance of Freddy’s dazzling new show. Also present are Freddy’s glamorous assistant, Flora; his embittered twin, Fergus; his professional nemesis, Francis; and Dame Fanny’s husband Ferdinand – who died seven months ago
With a wonderful blend of murder mystery, high comedy, cryptic clues, good food and shocking twists, ‘Bell, Book & Scandal’ gives you an array of larger-than-life characters. It’s Agatha Christie meets Downton Abbey and you’re welcome to dress up for the occasion. It promises to be a brilliant evening – there’s even a champagne prize for the best sleuths.
Smoke & Mirrors say, “We have our roots in professional theatre, so expect a highly theatrical event, with a full cast of professional actors mixing with the audience throughout. The guests can play along as much or as little as they wish, in or out of character. It’s a fantastically enjoyable way to dine out!”
The result? An evening that has something for everyone, whether you’re a regular theatre-goer, an experienced murder mystery enthusiast, or simply looking for a great night out. Every event is different; there are always surprises; there’s always comedy; fancy dress is always an option – and of course there’s always murder!
