THE Kennet & Avon Brewery recently held a beer festival to celebrate its arrival in Melksham and to meet the locals.
Managing director Malcolm Shipp said, “The Beer Festival and Open Day was held in order to promote our products, to show off our new premises and to raise awareness of our forthcoming plans to establish a small brewery on the site.
“Apart from four of our own cask beers (Pillbox, Dundas, Rusty Lane and Crofton IPA), there was a chance to sample beers from several other breweries including Arbor, Bristol Beer Factory, Tiny Rebel, and Wessex. 20 beers were featured, together with 11 ciders and various other drinks, snacks and delicious pies from Lovetts.
“About 60 people attended on the Friday night and about 120 during Saturday. There was live acoustic music from several acts during both days. People were able to see and discuss the plans for the brewery, to sample the products and to see where the mail-order business is based for a range of bottled gluten-free products (beers, lagers, ciders). Bottles were also available to buy and take away.
“The event was a great success and helped raise the awareness and potential of this new business in the town.”
The brewery is based opposite Asda with access from Old Broughton Road.
