A FORMER charity shop in Melksham town centre could be set to turn into a cafe, after an application was lodged to change its use.
A Calne man has applied to Wiltshire Council for permission to convert the former Sue Ryder shop on the High Street into a coffee shop.
The shop has stood empty since the hospice charity Sue Ryder ended its 10-year stint in January this year. If permission is given, the applicant could open a shop selling hot drinks, cakes, light lunches and cooked food.
The cafe would sit roughly halfway between the Art House Cafe in Market Place and Costa Coffee. Asher’s closed earlier this year due to financial difficulties.
