A bench that sits outside the Riverside Centre has been revived by the members of Melksham Men’s Shed, following damage caused to it over the winter.
The Riverside committee asked the Melksham Men’s Shed if they could repair and restore the bench that was donated by the Melksham Sixty Plus Club in 1999.
A spokesperson for the centre said, “At the end of April, the Men’s Shed took the bench back to the workshop. Many hours were spent on getting the bench cleaned up, parts replaced and treated with oil and a new armrest and leg fitted to one end. This required some skilled carpentry (not just DIY!).
“The bench has now been returned to its home where we hope it will serve the traveller and the tired and weary of our town for many more years. A big thank you to the guys at the Melksham Shed.”
