People living with dementia are invited to dig out their wellies and join ‘Muddy Boots’, Alzheimer’s Support’s newest outdoor activity group.
The group is a partnership with Wiltshire Equine Assisted Learning which has won National Lottery funding to work with people living with dementia.
The Friday sessions at Stagwood Stables in Holt will give people a chance to groom and pet the centre’s ponies, alpacas, dogs and guinea pigs. They will also take part in carefully planned activities including gardening, farm walks and nature-related crafts.
The sessions will be led by Heather Watson from Wiltshire Equine Assisted Learning, supported by trained volunteers and a facilitator from Alzheimer’s Support.
Family carers are invited to come along as full group members, so they too can benefit and make social connections.
There will be two groups, one meeting on Friday mornings and the other on Friday afternoons, both starting on Friday 26th April.
