Seend Primary School is now able to take textiles suitable for recycling, throughout the year.
The school has its very own clothing recycling bin where people can drop off clothing, paired shoes, hats, bags, belts, curtains, towels and bed sheets. Good quality items are reused and exported to developing countries whereas lower graded textiles are recycled into industrial wiping cloths.
Headteacher Jackie Chalk explained, “We are happy to do our bit by encouraging re-use of unwanted textiles whilst also raising some much needed funds for the school. We also have a collection point inside for ink cartridges, DVDs and CDs as well as being able to recycle paper, cardboard and plastic.” Anyone who wishes to donate items to the clothing bank should place the items in strong plastic bags first and then drop off in the “Ragbag” bin located just inside the car park.
