The ticket machine at Melksham Railway Station has been switched on, allowing tickets to be routinely bought at the station for the first time in 50 years.
The ticket machine sells tickets for immediate travel from Melksham on credit or debit cards but you can still buy tickets with cash on the train. For those who want to pre-book tickets, the machine allows you to collect tickets ordered in advance for any UK rail journey.
Melksham Station is served by eight trains each way per day on the TransWilts line from Swindon to Westbury via Chippenham and Trowbridge, running from early morning until mid evening with winter Sunday services starting in the late morning.
The journey time to Swindon is just 25 minutes. Change at Swindon for London – 90 minutes from Melksham, and advance fares on quieter trains booked well ahead available from as little as £13. And you can now collect those tickets at the station just before boarding your train. For more information visit www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk
