NEW evening and weekend trains are being added this month to the Melksham railway station timetable.
Starting on 22nd May, extra evening trains will be running to Melksham at 21:15 from Westbury and 21:22 from Trowbridge, and at 22:30 from Swindon, and 22:45 from Chippenham. There will also be a through train from Melksham to Weymouth at 09:10 every Saturday, and a return train from Weymouth arriving in Melksham at 21:34.
Acting chair of the Melksham Transport User Group Graham Ellis, said, “This is something we have been requesting for years. It means that for the first time in memory, Swindon Town fans can get home by train after an evening match, and people working late in London can leave Paddington nearly two hours later than at present, at half past nine, and can leave Bristol Temple Meads as late as 10pm.”
The adult day return fare from Melksham to Swindon is £8.90 (£11.90 on the early trains from Melksham) and there are now trains every weekday to Swindon, with a few less at the weekend.
