THERE is still no date set for the re-opening of Bath Road toilets.
Melksham Town Council was forced to close the toilets at King George V Park, due to a rat infestation in September. They had only re-opened in June after being closed since 2018.
The toilets have now been treated for the infestation by Wiltshire Council’s pest control team and a follow up date is planned in the next few weeks, but with no fixed date set.
Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling, Wiltshire Council cabinet member for public protection said, “Our pest control team have visited the public toilets at Bath Rd after being contacted by Melksham Town Council.
“A full treatment for rats has been carried out and the team are supporting Melksham Town Council with additional works to ensure the toilets are proofed, to prevent rodent issues. A follow up pest visit is planned in the next few weeks.”
It means King George V Park still has no toilets as the pavilion is closed and the town council’s eco-toilets, which were due to be opened in June, have been delayed.
