THE owners of motor dealership, Nortree Motors, have bought a classic car for £22,250 in a charity car auction,
Edward and Dan Phillips bid for the restored 1989 Ford Escort XR3i at the Classic Motor Show at the NEC in Birmingham last month. The £22,250 will go to the Marie Crawford Boyd Foundation, whose aim is to raise awareness and funding for research into Wegener’s Vasculitis, a disease that is characterised by the inflammation of the small blood vessels.
“We’ve never really had a car like this in the showroom and we wanted to do something for charity,” said Edward.
The car, which was donated by Jim Crawford, the founder of the chosen charity and brother to Marie Boyd, was restored by television presenter Mike Brewer from Wheeler Dealers on the Discovery Channel. The classic car now sits pride of place in the Nortree Motors showroom on Beanacre Road. Edward and Dan have yet to decide if the car will go on sale.
