LIVE rock music, a record fair and a nostalgic festive experience, the Melksham Assembly Hall has plenty on offer to keep you entertained this month. Here is the line-up:
• The Lollypops and Moptops Show – Saturday 11th November, 7.30pm
Formerly Freddie and The Dreamers and carrying on the tradition of the guys who started it all in 1963 – Freddie Garrity, Derek Quinn, Roy Crewson, Bernie Dwyer and Pete Birrel – The Dreamers remain one of the best-known named bands on the ‘60s music circuit.
Organisers said, “With their unique harmonies and musicianship they add an extra dimension to The Dreamers, who along with the hits of Freddie and The Dreamers perform the most popular songs of the ‘50s rock and roll days and the great songs of the ‘60s.
“One member, Alan Mosca, remains in the band today, having been in the band Freddie and The Dreamers and then The Dreamers for over 40 years.
“Alan is joined by The Temple Brothers, Steve and Colin, who are seasoned professionals having toured extensively with their Everly Brothers Tribute Show and Midnight Dynamos rock and roll band, and newest member, Nicky Walker, who for over 40 years has toured the UK and abroad as a session musician and with his own Buddy Holly Tribute Show.
“This brand-new show also includes The Temple Brothers’ tribute to the Everly Brothers and Buddy Walker’s tribute to Buddy Holly.”
• Rock for Heroes – Friday 17th November, 7.30pm
A seven-piece band will breathe life into classic rock songs by Guns N Roses, Bon Jovi, Prince, Meat Loaf and more.
• Record Fair – Sunday 26th November, 10am to 4pm
This is one for all record lovers. Spend the day browsing through treasure troves of vinyl to see what you can find. The bar is open for refreshments.
• Christmas Memories – 30th November 2pm
Join the sleigh ride of festive nostalgia as Neil Sands and his cast return to town to take you on a journey of yuletide memories, with over 60 of the best Christmas songs and carols. Think Christmas trees, falling snow and lifted spirits.
Organisers said, “Described as ‘Like a sparkly Christmas card come to life’ with its shimmering stage set, stunning costumes, beautiful Christmas trees and even falling snow, this is the perfect pre-Christmas treat, warming your heart on the coldest winter’s day, taking us all back to a time when Christmas was, ‘the most wonderful time of the year’.”
