A MANAGER at Daisychain nursery in Whitley has retired after 25 years and said goodbye to the team and children, leaving buddleias in the newly created nursery garden for the staff and children to enjoy.
Sarah Radford started working at the nursery in 1998 and said, “I have never felt so overwhelmed, what an emotional end to a truly wonderful career.”
Over the years Sarah says she has seen hundreds of children come and go and a main highlight has been when parents return with children, after their youngest children have left.
Sarah said, “Daisychain has been such a huge part of my life for so many years and I feel blessed to have met and then got to know so many families in and around Melksham.
“There is nothing better than being amongst happy children but of course none of this would have been possible without the hard work and dedication of all the wonderful staff, past and present that I have worked with.”
During Sarah’s final weeks with the nursery, the newly created garden that staff have been working to create, has been taking shape. The garden has space for children from babies to pre-school age to play outdoors, explore, climb on logs and practice balancing. There is also a mud kitchen and space for children to look at books.
There have been three owners of Daisychain throughout Sarah’s 25 years and the current owners, Fran and Tim, have owned the nursery since 2017. Sarah said, “I can’t thank Fran and Tim enough for having had such faith in me. I know I am going to miss everyone so very much and that there are great family challenges ahead for me, but life moves on and so will I and Daisychain. However, I shall still pop back in for the odd cuppa and to see everyone.”
New manager, Lucy Gale said, “I am really excited to be taking over as manager. Sarah has done an amazing job. The team is fantastic, everyone is really friendly and made me feel really welcome. I’ve got big plans for the future.”
