A MELKSHAM Oak student has raised £540 for Dorothy House by holding a coffee morning.
Harry Alford, 14, designed all the posters himself, organised raffle prizes and cakes as well as gathering donations.
Harry said, “I wanted to raise money for a cancer charity to perhaps be put towards buying new equipment.
“The money I raised is going to Dorothy House whose volunteers visit my grandma to help her, as well as helping other people.
“I’m a people person and really enjoyed the day and would like to thank everyone who supported me, especially my grandad who helped me a lot in the run up to the event. Everyone had a great time and I plan to try another one next year and possibly make even more money for a great cause.”
Harry has also been an active member of St. John Ambulance for three years.
“I gain a lot of satisfaction from helping people in need, I learn a great deal at St. John Ambulance and really enjoy the activities and all of the duties that I attend.”
Harry’s dad, Steven Alford said, “We are all very proud of what he has done. He is a credit to his family, friends and the community. Well done Harry.”
