To help improve local people’s computer and employability skill, Learning Curve is offering a Level 1 ECDL Flexible award through BCS (British Computer Society) at their training centre in Melksham.
ECDL (European computer Driving Licence) is regarded by employers across the globe as a benchmark for IT competence and will improve your employment prospects.
The course is delivered through weekly drop-in sessions (Monday 1.30pm – 3.30pm and Thursday 9.30am – 12.30pm) with support from an experienced tutor offering a flexible route to training and gaining a qualification at your own pace.
Learners will achieve one unit at a time and will receive an award when three units are successfully completed.
HR & central services manager at The Learning Curve, Kathryn Roynon, says, “Recognised IT qualifications are increasingly important when applying for jobs. The UK Commission for Employment & Skills launched a new report last week which highlights the importance of employers recruiting people with digital skills to improve productivity. With IT skills high on employers’ wish lists when recruiting, our new flexible ECDL course offers local people the chance to gain valuable skills and make their CVs stand out.”
Skills you can develop include safe and secure use of the Internet and email, using software tools and techniques to produce documents in Word and spreadsheets in Excel along with creating slide shows for presentations.
This course is ‘Free subject to eligibility’; this includes anyone on JSA/ESA or those looking for work and on any other state benefit.
