LOCAL MP Michelle Donelan is hosting her second Over 55s Information and Advice Fair in Melksham Assembly Hall on Sunday 6th October.
At 55 people are certainly not in the older bracket and most do not retire then but some people start to and look for new social networks – this is the age Age UK and Saga use, hence the event.
This event follows on from the MP’s previous event in Chippenham which was attended by over 400 residents.
Organisations attending the event include: Pensions Wise, Alzheimer’s Support, Building Bridges, Help for Heroes, Prostate Cancer, Cancer Research UK, Royal British Legion, Immigration Advice Service, Melksham & District Flowering Arranging Society, Nordic Walking UK and many more local groups and societies.
This event will be open to the public from 15:00-17:00 and light refreshments will be available throughout. Michelle hopes to see as many residents from Melksham and the surrounding area as possible at this event.
She said “I hope people will find the event useful and that it will also enable charities and clubs to find more volunteers and members. There is also information on safety and support at my Over 55s Information and Advice Fair in Melksham. This event follows my previous one in Chippenham which brought together the local community and raised awareness of all the work local and national organisations do to combat loneliness. I hope to see as many people as I can at this event.”
