King George V Park now boasts a new hotspot for live music and community gatherings, thanks to the recent addition of a stage and seating area beside Evie’s Kitchen café.
The new space is set to enhance the park’s offerings by providing a dedicated venue for regular live performances. Craig Guthrie, owner of Evie’s Kitchen, spearheaded the stage’s construction and is organising live shows. He said, “I am really pleased we have managed to get the stage area in place. I hope this new facility will encourage the community to come together in a fantastic setting and enjoy themselves.”
The first of the live performances will be taking place this Friday, 16th August where singer-songwriter Spencer Flay will be performing and the stage will be officially opened. A variety of food and drink options, including a bar and children’s hot dogs for £2 will be available. Spencer will take the stage at 7pm for two one-hour sets.
The following week, on Thursday 22nd August, local rock band Plan of Action will be performing at 7pm. Attendees can enjoy a bar and barbecue outside of the café from 6pm.
Craig also hopes the stage area will host other community activities, such as pumpkin carving during Halloween. “I can’t wait to get it out there and hopefully make the park a bit more active,” he added.
