A POPULAR footpath in Melksham Forest is being ruined by irresponsible dog owners says local man, Brian Sandford.
The footpath near St Andrew’s Church used to be a poplar walk for local people but the increased amount of dog excrement along the walk has stopped people from using it says Brian.
“It’s absolutely disgusting. It’s been like it for a year and it’s getting worse. Some people don’t bother picking up the dog poo at all but most people put it in a bag, but then leave it on the path. There is no excuse for it.
“There aren’t any bins along the pathway, but it is the responsibility of the dog owner to take it home with them and put it in their own bin. If you can’t look after your pets properly, then you shouldn’t have them.
“Every day I use the path to get out of the house and get some fresh air, but it’s becoming unpleasant and I’ve had enough. It has to be a health and safety issue as well. Even if you step on the bag, you could still have it on your shoes.
“My message to these people who are doing this is stop being irresponsible and get rid of your dog’s poo properly before you ruin our pathways and green spaces entirely.”
