Five talented artists and craftspeople from the Melksham News area are getting ready to take part in North West Wiltshire’s Peacock Arts Trail from Saturday 5th to Sunday 13th October.
Laura Richards (pictured) is a painter who will be displaying her vibrant abstract landscapes in her studio in Melksham. Sculptor Jackie Newton will be welcoming visitors to her studio at her home in Semington Road, where she will be exhibiting her fantastic sculptures of animals and people.
A stone’s throw away, in Atworth, is jewellery maker Marianne Donahoe whose studio was a popular stop on the 2017 trail where she showcases her contemporary silver designs.
Melksham painter Joy Jeffreys will be travelling to Neston to exhibit her watercolours in The Greenhouse restaurant , and textile artist Kay Ames will be travelling from her Melksham home to exhibit her striking collage pieces in Chippenham.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing the work by these artists,” said organiser Victoria Jarman. “The trail is a fantastic event. Our bright pink road signs help visitors discover fascinating studios and intriguing exhibitions. It’s great to chat with the artists, watch a demonstration or have a go yourself and, of course, stop for tea and cake on the way!
“There’s something to please all tastes, and, if people want to, it’s ideal for finding that perfect Christmas gift, stock up on unique greetings cards, or find an artwork to brighten up your home.”
