A PLANNING application to build 160 homes near Berryfield in Melksham has been refused by Wiltshire Council.
The development which would have seen 160 new homes built on fields south of the Western Way bypass, opposite the mobile home park on Semington Road, was met with objection from local people and Melksham Without Parish Council.
Concerns with the proposed development included traffic chaos at Semington Roundabout, no provisions for safe highways crossing for school children and risk to pedestrians, medical facilities over subscribed, no school places and the impact on wildlife.
Wiltshire Council agreed with these objections and refused the development.
