Plans to build 150 new homes off Semington Road, Melksham, have been approved by Wiltshire Council, paving the way for funding for a new village hall.
Work is now due to start on the new Bellway development, which will be known as Bowood View.
The development includes two, three and four-bedroom houses, with the first plots due to be released for sale in November.
As part of the planning agreement, Bellway will contribute more than £1million to the local community, including £500,000 towards a new village hall, more than £600,000 towards secondary school facilities, £22,000 on highway improvements and £13,000 on waste facilities. A further £45,000 will also be used for public art.
Sales manager for Bellway South West, Rachel Way said, “We are delighted our plans to build new homes in Melksham have been approved.
“We have carefully designed a mix of homes to suit local buyers at all stages of the property ladder.
“With substantial contributions to the community, such as funding towards a new village hall, the development promises not only to provide much-needed housing, but also to be a fantastic addition to the area for years to come.
“We have already received a great deal of interest, so I would advise anyone looking to make their home here to register on our website for the latest updates.”
Bellway’s South West division is currently building new homes across Wiltshire – at Tadpole Rise in Swindon and the former MOD Copenacre site at Pickwick Court in Corsham. There are also new developments planned in Bradford-on-Avon and Rudloe.
