Plans for up to 40 homes in Bowerhill

Up to 40 new homes could be built on a field at Loves Farm in Bowerhill under proposals being prepared by a housing developer.

The 1.98-hectare site, off the A365 Bath Road, is currently a field in agricultural use, with a disused stable block and hardstanding.

The proposals, put forward by developer Woodstock Homes, include a mix of one- to four-bedroom properties, with at least 30% designated as affordable housing.

Plans also include public open space and play areas, with proposed planting including woodland or a community orchard. Vehicle access would be from Bath Road.

The proposals come amid other housing plans for the surrounding area. These include a separate scheme for up to 50 homes off Bowerhill Lane, on the opposite side of Bath Road.

Plans for 200 homes on land next to Melksham Oak Community School have also been put forward by developer Hannick. Access to this site would also be from Bath Road.

The new proposal for the Loves Farm site is being prepared ahead of an outline planning application to Wiltshire Council.

Residents can view the proposals and have their say through the developer’s consultation website at https://melksham.devpr.co.uk/#feedback.
