BROUGHTON Gifford Bowls Club, situated behind the Bell on the Common, are delighted to report that the club has now reopened.
This follows Bowls England Covid-19 guidelines, which allowed the club to resume playing and to hold its ‘Opening of the Green’ day on April 17th.
A spokesperson for the club said, “The members, who turned up in good numbers, were full of happy excitement as once again they were able to indulge their passion of playing lawn bowls after a long, enforced absence from the game. Appetites were whetted and everyone was eager to play again after the total absence last year of club fixtures.
“The club were pleased to welcome the return of two former members and two new members who have joined us for the first time, whilst another showed a strong interest in joining.
“The occasion gave everyone an opportunity to have a little practice before the opening week of the season when the club play three friendly games. These friendlies will be ideal preparation for the league fixtures which begin on 29th April.
“The club plan to hold an Open Day on Saturday 8th May from 2pm onwards, with Covid-19 compliant measures in place. We would love to meet any member of the public who would like to come along and give the game a try. Friendly advice and guidance will be on hand from our members. The club would welcome visits from newcomers and experienced players alike.
“The game is popular with both ladies and gentlemen, many of our members are husbands and wives. If you are unable to come along on the day but would like to know more, please call 01225 783332 or email sylviad463@gmail.com.”
