A new season of poker gets underway next week at Melksham Cons Club.
The friendly weekly games take place every Wednesday evening from 7.30pm – with the new season starting on the 21st – welcoming both men and women aged 18 and over, whatever their experience level.
The group prides itself on being open and sociable, with around 16-20 players taking part each week, aged from their early 30s to 70s.
“It’s a friendly and relaxed evening and we’re always keen to see new faces, whether you’ve played poker for years or you’re just starting out,” said organiser Dave Jenkins. “People can come along, enjoy a game and be part of a welcoming group.”
Entry costs £5 per week, with a cash prize awarded at the end of the night depending on the number of entrants. Players can also opt into a fun £2 side pot, which builds each week until someone wins it by getting a four of a kind, a straight or even a royal flush.
The Cons Club’s poker nights have now been running for two years, and the new 13-week season runs until finals night in the spring — and players don’t need to attend every week to qualify, as points are accumulated weekly in a rolling league table.
Newcomers are always welcome; just pop along on the night or for more details, call the Cons Club on 01225 702886
