ANOTHER busy fortnight for the team. With many Officers deployed to Scotland to assist with policing of events there, those of us who remain have been busy with Halloween-related patrols and proactivity.
On both Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st October, we saw levels of demand that would normally be reserved for New Year’s Eve. That said, Melksham appeared to be the exception with a mere 10 logs on Sunday. We dealt with three Missing People; two logs relating to Anti-Social Behaviour; an RTC and several Domestic Disputes. We went out on patrol with the Town Council on Sunday 31st October, speaking to people who were out and about.
We’ve been investigating a small spate of burglaries in the area of Keevil, Great Hinton and Steeple Ashton, where it seems that cars were the target. We’re asking people to be mindful of keeping doors locked overnight and not leaving car keys next to the door. Officers from our proactive team, Op Fortitude, have been doing a number of fast-paced initial enquiries into these.
We executed a Drugs Warrant on Sangster Avenue last week and recovered nearly a kilogram of Cannabis, along with 1/4oz of Cocaine. One male was arrested and secondary investigation is ongoing, to make sure that the right charges are ultimately brought.
Wayne Vincent, aged 47 of Calne, was charged and convicted of using threatening behaviour after walking into Melksham Enquiry Office brandishing a metal bar and making threats to the Enquiry Officer.
Marek Szajstek, aged 49 of Swindon, was charged with being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle, having been found behind the wheel at McDonalds in Melksham.
