ONE of the South West’s most popular 10-mile road running events returns to Melksham next month.
The 13th annual Wiltshire 10 Road Run is due to be held on Sunday 9th February and starts in King George V Playing Fields, following a certified accurate 10-mile course out around the historic village of Lacock before returning to finish alongside the River Avon in King George V Playing Fields.
The course is not only picturesque; it has also provided the opportunity for runners to record some fast times, with the current course records being 49.34 set by Daniel Studley of Bristol and West Athletics Club in 2017 and for the ladies, 56.18 set by Jenny Spink, also of Bristol and West Athletics Club, in 2016.
A maximum of 400 runners are expected to take part in the race and all finishers will receive a specially minted medal and free cake.
Prizes will also be on offer to the first three men and women to complete the course, as well as to the winners of the V40, V50 and V60 age categories, along with team prizes.
More details about the run, including details of online entry, can be found at www.stampedesports.co.uk.
