Children at a primary school in Melksham have each been given a book for Christmas as part of a new initiative to encourage reading.
The books were donated to Forest and Sandridge CE Primary School by local company A B Gerrish.
Deputy headteacher James Mead said, “This year, Forest and Sandridge, alongside the Parent Teacher Association, Forest Friends, introduced a new Christmas initiative inspired by our shared belief in the importance of reading by giving every child in the school a book of their very own.
“We know that books can spark imagination, confidence and a lifelong love of learning and we wanted every pupil to feel that joy this Christmas.
“We are deeply grateful to A B Gerrish, whose generous donation made this project possible. Their support ensured that every child received a meaningful gift that will last far beyond the festive season.
“Thank you to everyone involved for helping us make a real difference in our young readers’ lives.”
