Children at River Mead school recently took a trip to the World Heritage Centre and the Roman Baths.
Heron class who are Year 3 visited the learning centre with its three state-of-the-art learning rooms and a hands-on Investigation Zone set among real Roman remains. Children dressed as Romans, took part in an archaeological dig, built a bridge, built a column and walked through Roman remains identifying them as they went. After lunch, they had a tour around the Roman Baths.
Cllr Sue Mortimer attended the trip and said, “What a fab day we all had learning about the Roman times. The children were really well behaved, so much so that an American visitor couldn’t believe they were only Year 3. They really are a credit to their teachers. Just shows what a brilliant inspiring school The River Mead is. Well done Heron class so proud of you.”
