Pro skateboarder James Threlfall, from Melksham, was presented with his MBE on Friday 22nd March by the Queen at Windsor Castle.
James, who grew up in Melksham and learned to skateboard in the town, has been recognised for his work developing and organising the Wiltshire Skate Series – the annual programme of youth-led competitive skate events that take place across the county, which first started in 2010.
On receiving his MBE, James told Melksham News, “It’s been really surreal to be honest, I’m still wondering when it’s going to sink in! I didn’t imagine in a million years that I’d meet the queen, let alone have a moment to chat about skating with her. It’s a real honour and if we can use this to raise the profile of skating and how positive action sports are, then that’s even better.”
