The restoration of a local waterway will receive a welcome boost from a charity’s annual quiz night.
The Melksham, Chippenham & Calne branch of the Wilts & Berks Canal Trust is holding the popular event at the Neeld Hall in Chippenham on the evening of Friday October 11th.
Entry is £15 per team of up to four people, with refreshments and a licensed bar available. It lasts from 7.30-10.30pm.
Last year’s event saw around 50 people raising an impressive £560.
Branch chairman Dave Maloney said, “The quiz night has outgrown previous locations in Melksham and Derry Hill due its increasing popularity.
“In the early years it was mainly a social occasion for our volunteers, but it’s been steadily growing and now attracts lots of interest from the wider community too.
“There’s always plenty of friendly competition, and it’s all in aid of a very worthy cause!”
The general knowledge quiz will feature 10 rounds, covering lots of different subjects, with tea, coffee and cake available. The licensed bar will also be open.
Displays will feature Canal Trust activities with a particular focus on the local restoration between Melksham and Chippenham, and membership leaflets for potential new volunteers to get in touch afterwards.
Teams must register in advance. Email quiz@wbct.org.uk
