LOCAL children will soon have the opportunity to visit a real life nativity scene as a stable in Shaw holds its one-day exhibition.
On Friday 9th December, a stable at 4 Bath Road will play host to ‘Follow the Star’ – a live nativity scene with real donkeys and actors in costume portraying the Christmas story.
Local woman Helen Roberts organises the event with help from the Benefice of Atworth with Shaw and Whitley.
Helen said, “This event has proved very popular in the past and it’s a magical way to start the Christmas festivities. Children can follow the trail of stars until they find the lamp lit stable. Children will get the chance to pet the donkeys and listen to the Christmas story and sing Christmas songs.
“We collect for charity but it is a free event put on just for the community.”
The event will be open from 2pm to 4.30pm and there will be mince pies and mulled wine on offer, and squash for the children.
This is the fifth year Follow the Star has been held, and this year will be collecting money for the British Heart Foundation and Starlight Children’s Foundation.
