RESIDENTS are being encouraged by Melksham Town Council to trim back any overhanging foliage from their gardens, especially if it reaches a public right of way, road, or footpath.
The request was made to avoid potential hazards to pedestrians and road users. It followed discussions at a town council economic development and planning committee about ways of supporting the work of the Sparkle Team and parish steward in keeping Melksham tidy. At that meeting, cllr Pat Aves asked if residents generally could be encouraged to cut back their hedges and ensure clippings are removed to avoid falling foul of fly-tipping rules.
