NEW president of Melksham Rotary Club, Sarah Hiscocks, has taken over from outgoing president Steve Fivash.
Sarah said, “I am excited yet a little daunted to become president of a club that has so much history for its good work in the town.
“Looking at the list of past presidents on the wall in the Art House, you see names of some really influential people in Melksham. I will be bringing enthusiasm and 14 years of Rotary service, with the intention to continue the club’s good work within the community.
“I work full time and give up some Saturdays each month to volunteer at the Art House café, which is a wonderful worthwhile project and this year we are hoping to also use it for even more community activities like the monthly Alzheimer’s cafe.
“Last year we celebrated 50 years of Melksham Rotary, and this year we are celebrating 50 years of twinning with the Rotary club of Guingamp in France. Last year we worked with them to improve facilities and the lives of people in Senegal, and this year I would like to continue that partnership.”
Melksham Rotary Club raises money for charities and local organisations through the running of the Art House Cafe, and by hosting fundraisers around the town.
