That’s the message from the West Wilts Credit Union based in Melksham.
The Credit Union says, “As it’s the start of a new year it’s the ideal time to begin saving. By saving regularly it will soon mount up and if you should need to borrow for an unexpected bill we can offer a loan at a very low rate of interest compared to other market lenders for example Provident or Wonga.
It’s a community-based organisation not run for profit. All interest is paid back to its members in the form of a dividend. Membership costs just £2.
“All savings are offered the same protection as a bank or building society to the value of £85,000 by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
“So come along to our collection points Friday 10.30am – 1.00pm at Melksham Library, Lowbourne and have a friendly chat with Sam or Richard or Saturday 10.00am – 11.15am at Edwards Stationery, 7 Bank Street Melksham for a chat with Maureen.”
