THE Manor School’s gardening club is celebrating their win in this year’s Melksham in Bloom competition.
The club, which has five members – Adyan, Alana, Latrell, Matthew, and Mya – won the Best Horticultural Display (school). It was the first time the school had entered the annual competition.
Teacher, Tammi Milsom, told Melksham News, “The children are over the moon with the win – they worked extremely hard to transform the piece of land into an area that the whole school can use and enjoy.
“The club had a budget of £25, which they spent at the garden centre – and it soon became clear that this wasn’t going to be enough to fill the space. So we held a competition, asking other students to fill a welly or shoe with flowers. Also the whole school painted a pebble each to go on the garden.”
Inspired by their win, the club has plans to enter the South West in Bloom competition next year as a ‘In Your Neighbourhood’ entrant. Tammi said, “The children are so excited to get to work next year and expand on what they have achieved already.”
