MELKSHAM Oak School is inviting the community to join their house competition to knit a ‘twiddlemuff’ for dementia patients.
A twiddlemuff is a knitted muff with items attached so that a patient with dementia can twiddle it in their hands. People with dementia often have restless hands and like to use something to keep them occupied.
Students, as well as staff, parents and the community have been asked to make a twiddlemuff to be entered into a competition, with all entries then being donated to local care homes and hospital wards for those diagnosed with dementia.
If you cannot knit, ask someone who can to make one, and you can enter it in!
All entries to be handed in to Mrs Jones in the DT department by Friday 14th December.
