SEEND Church of England Primary School had a busy 2017 and look forward to what 2018 will bring.
The staff and students at Seend CofE Primary School were busy taking part in events, charity work, themed learning days and school productions across the year. Particular days across 2017 had stood out, including: Winning the Melksham and West Wiltshire swimming galas, the school’s continued participation in the netball league, football and cross country tournaments, receiving a Healthy Schools’ Silver award to name but a few.
The school has also been interested in continuing on their many charitable ventures including their work with The Royal British Legion, The Great British Spring Clean, Children in Need, Melksham Foodbank and Comic Relief – all of which they have had tremendous fun in being a part of.
All of these great achievements have not just shown through in these events, but across the whole school. The current student numbers are higher than ever, currently on 121, showing the growth of the school. They also managed to retain their ‘Good’ Ofsted rating last year.
This year looks like a busy one for Seend CofE as they hope to make improvements to the fabric of the school with redecoration, a hall extension and blackout blinds. They will continue to work alongside St George’s in Semington as they now have taken on the running of their school too.
They hope to continue what they do day to day and provide a good education in a safe environment, where children can flourish by balancing a focus on the core areas, whilst not losing sight of the arts.
Jackie Chalk, headteacher said, “We are a small school with big ambition and the children and staff continue to do me proud. It has been a very rewarding year with lots of achievements to be proud of. I was particularly impressed with how the children progressed in the swimming gala to coming third out of all the schools in Wiltshire! One of the other biggest achievements is how well the whole school has successfully managed a time of change in the school’s history.
“I owe a huge thanks to the children, parents, staff and governors for their support and patience and continued hard work in ensuring that Seend School continues to be a good school.”
