The Semington Slog 10k and Fun Run is back for a second year.
Friends of St George’s Primary School are organising the Semington Slog 10k and Fun Run on Saturday 7th May.
The race starts at St George’s School in Semington and incorporates the canal path, quiet roads and bridle way. There is also a Fun Run to encourage all the younger runners to join in and have a go. Entry for the Fun Run is on the day and costs £2.50. All entrants will receive a special Semington Slog Fun Run medal.
John Adams, one of the race organisers said, “We received great comments after last year so we are really looking forward to this year’s race.”
DB Max are providing the race timing again and Natalie Saliss Fitness, Health and Wellbeing are organising an exciting warm up for all runners. Anytime Fitness in Trowbridge are sponsoring the event, as well as Cooper Tires in Melksham.
All the money raised from last year’s event was used to create an all weather path and learning cabins, and the aim is to continue this great project with other outside activities to inspire and encourage learning.
Gordon Campbell, headteacher at St George’s in Semington said, “We were delighted with the success of last year’s event and the way the community came together to support the school and the runners.
“Although we are a small school we have big aspirations for our learning environment and with a little help from the Friends of St George’s the money raised is helping to achieve this. I am looking forward to running in the Fun Run with all the children.”
