YOUNG Melksham is appealing for people to share their memories of the Canberra Centre from years gone by.
The local charity, which is currently closed whilst renovations and improvements are made to the building, is planning to build a ‘memory wall’.
They say, “Whether it be from the last week, last year, last decade or even last millennium – we are looking for people’s memories of Canberra for a memory wall, which we want to be packed with memories of people from across the Melksham community and beyond of their time at the centre.
“The building was first opened as a social centre in 1942, having been generously funded by the people of Australia (hence the name) and has been serving the community ever since.
“Tell us your memories and help us to build a great picture of Canberra over the years. It could be about a skill you learnt, meeting someone special, or doing something new. If you have a memory please share with us at www.young melksham.org.uk/memories.”
Young Melksham plans to reopen the centre on Saturday 5th October with a Family Fun Day to show off its new facilities. Youth clubs will restart on Monday 7th October.
