LAST month, Melksham held its first successful ClimateFest with an enthusiastic turn out from the community and to help plan next year’s event, the town council would like the community to share their thoughts in a short survey.
The event, which took place on Sunday 2nd October, was organised by the environment and climate group of Melksham Town Council. To prepare for next year’s ClimateFest, they want to gather feedback in a survey which needs to be completed by Monday 14th November.
To fill out the survey, visit Melksham Town Council’s website at: www.melksham-tc.gov.uk/local-events/melksham-climatefest
A spokesperson from the council said, “One highlight of the day was the environment quiz and with the many questionnaires filled in, it was a good opportunity for people to see how much they knew about sustainability and energy efficiency.
“The winner with the most correct answers was Rose Hoskins, whose winning prize is a voucher from Vaughan’s Cookery School. The team are grateful to Vaughan’s Cookery School for their kind generosity and to Shirley McCarthy, who created the quiz, with help from the Centre for Sustainability Energy.”
Rose said, “I was very impressed by Melksham’s ClimateFest. The wealth of information and activities available around the Assembly Hall for young and old, alongside the riveting talks, shone a bright light on current environmental issues. I look forward to attending this new event annually.
“I was shocked to discover that I had won the climate competition. My 6/10 had earned first prize, but this does demonstrate how much more attention we must pay to our environment in order to have the knowledge to take action.”
