SHAW and Whitley will be holding a special village fair on Sunday 12th June, to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.
Organisers say, “There’s so much going on throughout the day, including children’s activities, adults village games and a dog show. The Golden Fleece Cricket Club and Whitley Golf club’s pro will be running activities all day.
“The Pear Tree will be selling hot food and drinks and there will be tea and cake stalls, face painting and bouncy castles, tombola and a raffle plus much more.
“There will also be a history exhibition in the village hall showing pictures and details of Shaw and Whitley over the last 90 years and a vintage car collection to come and look at too.
“Community Action: Whitley and Shaw (CAWS) and the village hall committee is funding a free ‘Street Party Lunch’ for children aged 1-12. The lunch will include the usual party favourites, sandwiches, sausages rolls, crisps, fruit and jelly.
“Booking is required for the lunch and more details can be found on Shaw & Whitley Facebook page.
“Community Action: Whitley and Shaw and Shaw Village Hall committee supported by many local groups and organisations is organising and hosting the event so it’s free to enter. All proceeds and donations from the community groups, organisations and businesses will be going towards improving the recreational facilities at Shaw playing field and park.”
