WITH Christmas upon us, Melksham residents are being encouraged to shop locally, spreading festive cheer while boosting the local economy.
Melksham’s Mayor, Tom Price, is urging people to support independent businesses in the town centre to help them thrive.
Whether you are looking for Christmas cards, toys, home decor, plants, perfume, locally distilled alcohol, or handmade gifts, the town’s traders offer a wide range of items for everyone.
Mayor Tom Price said, “As the mayor, I would always encourage people to shop local. We have such an array of fantastic businesses in our town, and by shopping locally, you contribute to the local economy, bring a vibrant atmosphere to the town centre, and, with the Christmas lights now on, it’s a lovely place to spend time. Please, I encourage you all to come and shop here.”
This year, several cherished shops in the town centre have closed, reflecting the nationwide challenges faced by high streets. The mayor stresses that supporting local businesses is now more vital than ever.
