The weekend of the 22nd-23rd of June saw the second sidecar revival meeting held at Cadwell Park with Broughton Gifford’s sidecar driver, Andy King, in the thick of the action, with passenger, Andrew Sigsworth, on their 600cc Lumley Ireson outfit.
During this season Andy has had help from The Bell on the Common, Townsend Motors and Woodley Decorators, also Broughton Gifford based. King and Sigsworth notched up four podium finishes from four starts in their British Motorcycle Racing Club F2 races which saw them racing alongside the 1000cc F1 outfits. After qualifying, King and Sigsworth were tenth fastest overall, but sixth in class. Their first race was red flagged but they crossed the line in fourth overall, but second in class.
Their best result came in their second race when they finished second overall and first F2 across the line, but had to fend off a strong challenge from current F2 championship leaders, Charlie Morphet and Paul Halliburton, who put in the fastest lap of the race and just 0.94 of a second behind King and Sigsworth. In their final two races, they notched up third and fourth overall and a pair of second places in the F2 class.
