AS people get older, memory lapses can seem more frequent. It’s normal to become a bit forgetful as you get older. Memory loss in the elderly is quite common, but when should you worry?
Patients registered at Spa Medical Centre who may be worried about their own memory or that of a relatives can get some information and advice on the topic by attending a Dementia Information Evening organised by the surgery and Patient Reference Group. The evening will take place on Monday 31st March, from 7.00pm to 9.00pm at Spa Medical Centre.
Dr Rob Matthews, Dementia Lead at the surgery, will be providing a brief presentation on the subject, along with guest speakers from Alzheimer’s Support. Hopefully the evening will provide people who have concerns about their memory information about the differences between the normal ageing process and dementia and will encourage people to make an appointment to see their GP for a proper diagnosis if there is a problem.
The evening will also highlight the various agencies and charities available to those concerned; there is practical, emotional and financial help out there if people know where and how to find it.
