Melksham’s annual ‘Spot the Oddity’ competition is set to start on Tuesday 1st July.
The competition is run by Melksham Carnival, in conjunction with Andy York Photography. It runs for the whole of July and incorporates the Carnival on Saturday 12th July.
The competition involves shops hiding something in their window display which they wouldn’t usually sell – an ‘oddity’, for people to ‘spot’.
The annual Spot the Oddity competition has been a Melksham tradition for over 20 years.
This year, there will be some changes to the competition. The entry forms are now part of the carnival programme which cost £1.50 and includes lots of information on this year’s event. Within the form the specific shops taking part won’t be listed but come the 1st July it will be obvious as businesses will have a pink card in their window indicating that they are taking part. The entry form in the programme does have the road names of the shops taking part. The programmes are available from Andy York Photography, CJ’s, Honeys, Autoline Garage, Card & News, Newsbox, Cobblers Bench, Edwards Stationary and Gaming Galore. A prize of £50 plus shop vouchers will be awarded to the winner who spots the most oddities.
The money raised will be donated to Melksham Carnival Fund and this year there will be no clues for customers – making it an even harder competition!
