DESPITE promises from Wiltshire Council to repair lighting in the grounds of Melksham House, the area remains in darkness at night.
Wiltshire Council had said that the lights would be repaired and operational by Friday 8th November.
However, almost two weeks on, there appears to be no sign of relief for car park users and Avon Bowls Club members who have had to navigate the area in darkness for weeks.
Local resident and Avon Bowls Club member, Pauline Baker, who has persistently raised the issue of public safety with the council said, “We are still in the dark – literally! This situation is not only dangerous, it is now being referred to in Melksham as tantamount to criminal negligence.
“The area should be re-lit immediately before a really serious incident occurs, and not just the minor ones which some people have already had to endure.”
Wiltshire Council was approached for comment, but had not responded by the time of going to print.
